Reumüller’s wallpaintings take excisting surfaces such as textiles, facades or other casings of the architectural space as their motives. He paints his templates in several layers, without evaluation in regards of content, deconstructs or represents these surfaces only as a shadow.
Through selection of the paintings‘ perspective his wallpaintings can be perceived in their full perspective and without distortion from one angle only. Hence the viewpoint of the artist and the spectator become identical. By exclusively quoting surfaces in his painterly works, Reumüller thematises the exchangability of personal and cultural identity and image building. We see images of things, we are copies and carryers of these copies.
